The Martinican writer and public intellectual Édouard Glissant (1928–2011) gained broad international recognition as a founding figure of postcolonial thought. His vast body of work encompasses poetry, novels, essays, articles, and public addresses delivered during his long tenure at UNESCO. Several recurring themes permeate Glissant’s protean corpus: *creolization*—the mutually enriching, albeit conflict-ridden, blending of languages ​​and cultures; the resolution of the tension between universality and particularity within the fluid perspective of the *Tout-Monde* (All-World); and the endless journey as a path toward poetic and political self-realization. All these elements converge in the concept of *Relation*—a volatile connection, constantly reinvented, that serves as the driving force of existence in Glissant’s philosophy. The texts in this collection—the author’s first book to appear in Russian translation—illuminate the crystal of *Relation*, revealing its various facets: loss and gain, wounds and fusion, doubt and discovery.
