The Round Eye of the Weather and Other Poems
Круглый глаз погоды и другие стихи
At the core of Janusz Szuber's poetic worldview lies the philosophy of Place, given to the poet along with family, friends, and the natural world. Here, in Szuber's microcosm, everything holds its own significance. The deep connection the author has with his roots is evident in dozens of poems dedicated to the traditions of the Sanok region.
Other cities do not play a significant role in Szuber's work; they serve merely as a distant cultural backdrop. This characteristic aligns Szuber's world with that of Bruno Schulz. It seems that for local culture to survive, there must be a connection between generations, a biological continuity that bridges different eras.
The ideal reader of Szuber is a thoughtful individual who understands the text and navigates complex human relationships, someone insightful and kind-hearted—in short, a friend endowed with a keen sense of humor.
