From 3+5 to Z. Language of one wave
От 3+5 до Z. Язык одной волны
Language shapes the world. Language shapes war. In his book, Sergei Girin analyzes the official language of contemporary Russia, peeling back its ideological and performative layers one by one. This language finds expression in everyday scenes, on trains and in museums, at conferences and events, in films and internet memes, and, of course, on television. Sergei Girin's work is a political dictionary of Putin's Russia, interpreting not only concepts but also events, names, and dates. A dictionary that doesn't offer clear definitions, but rather reveals contexts and analogies through the insignificant phenomena of everyday life.
Sergey Girin is a philologist, journalist, and PR and GR specialist. He has worked as a translator and foreign language teacher, as a commercial director at an energy company, and as a communications and advocacy director for public organizations. His work has been published in Russian and German press. He currently lives and works in Berlin.
