Gold of Dreams: A Cultural Study of the Blessed and Cursed Metal
Золото грез: культурологическое исследование благословенного и проклятого металла
"Gold of Dreams" is the final part of Ralph Dutli's trilogy, which includes "The Divine Olive" and "Song of Honey." Beginning his narrative with how gold arrived on Earth as a result of a collision between neutron stars, the author traces its interaction with humans across different eras and continents.
Not limited to the material aspect, Dutli explores the cultural impact of this history. He recalls ancient myths, folk tales, and both classical and contemporary works of literature, music, and visual arts. The book concludes with a small anthology titled "Gold of Poems."
Ralph Dutli (b. 1954) is a Swiss philologist, poet, and translator. He is the author of a biography of Osip Mandelstam and prepared the complete works of the poet for publication in German. He has also translated works by Marina Tsvetaeva and Joseph Brodsky.
