With Pen and Bayonet. Introduction to the Revolutionary Politics of Language
Пером и штыком. Bведение в революционную политику языка
The monograph is a pioneering work in the field of political philosophy of language. Articulating the ambiguous connection between language and politics, the author turns to historical material. A comparative analysis of the language policies of three revolutions — French, Russian and French again (the events of May 1968) — is intertwined with an exposition of key philosophical concepts of the 20th century, in particular the concept of majoritarian and minority languages by J. Deleuze and F. Guattari, which is close to the author and is used to analyze language construction at turning points in history. The phenomena considered in the work are presented from a variety of angles — in political, aesthetic, linguistic and cultural aspects. At the same time, the formulation of the question itself is original and new: language, power, people, and the national question are considered here from the standpoint of modern philosophical theory.
