Feast
Пир
"Feast" is a collection of thirteen stories by Vladimir Sorokin, written in 2000 and first published in 2001. The main theme of the book is food in all its forms: from spiritual through physical to its final form in the form of excrement.
The collection presents "inverted" styles of Russian and foreign literature. The stories "Concrete" and "Yu" use futuristic vocabulary of the Chinese language. The works "Nastya", "Eat!" and "Sugar Sunday" parody the style of Russian classics, "Avarona" - Soviet, and "Banquet" - Asian. Sorokin also brings the realities of post-Soviet Russia transferred to the future to the point of absurdity in the short stories "Ashes" and "Horse Soup".
