Our Joy, Cécile
Радость наша Сесиль
The poetic language of Alexey Porvin, combining conservative form with avant-garde content, expands and renews itself in his new book, both in terms of formal features and meanings. The central part of Porvin's book is occupied by the poem "Our Joy, Cécile," written about the Haitian voodoo priestess Cécile Fatiman (1771–1883), who played a significant role in the beginning of the Haitian Revolution, which led to the country's independence.
