During a search of a dissident's apartment, a KGB officer finds another banned manuscript along with the novel "The Gulag Archipelago" and starts reading it. It consists of several parts, telling about the lives of ordinary Soviet people who, upon reaching a certain age, must take "Norma" - specially compressed feces.
You have to drink it every day so that society accepts you into its circle. And if children do not quite understand why adults eat feces, parents explain that the importance of this ritual is realized over time. Refusal of "Norma" is criminal - such a violation is punishable by law.
This is the normal world according to Sorokin...
