Limonov
Лимонов
The biographical novel about Eduard Limonov (1943–2020), written by French author Emmanuel Carrère, achieved great success in Europe and was translated into Russian in 2013, during Limonov's lifetime. It received — at least as a literary fact — a favorable assessment from him.
The new edition is being released in the year of Limonov's eightieth anniversary, against the backdrop of the war he predicted. It reaffirms both the relevance of the writer, who internalized the sharpest internal conflicts of his country, and the foresight of his biographer. Carrère managed to capture the spirit of several cultural worlds through which Limonov developed, including the turbulent atmosphere of Russia in the 1990s and 2000s, where he experienced a second youth full of hopes and disappointments.
