The book by Pyotr Kolomnin, published at the very end of the 19th century, remains to this day practically the only example of an original Russian publication entirely devoted to typesetting, layout and typography.

We know nothing about the author himself, we don’t even know what he looked like (there is a portrait of Gutenberg on the dust jacket). A significant part of the book is devoted to manual typesetting, however, the publication from beginning to end can be recommended as a reference and educational reading for any modern designer, type designer, typographer and editor.
