Write, cut 2025

Пиши, сокращай 2025

"Write, Cut" is a book about creating text for anyone who writes for work, no matter whether a person works as a professional author or the text is their additional task. The tips from the book will help employees of enterprises clearly convey the benefits of their products to potential clients, negotiate with colleagues, managers, and acquaintances. Journalists will be able to create interesting articles and publications on social networks. The authors explain with examples in what order to present information, without which words the text will become clearer, how to convince the reader to read to the end and whether this is always necessary.

Here is a new edition: revised, supplemented and updated in 2023. The main ideas of the book have remained unchanged, but the examples, content, and even the structure have changed. The new version is addressed to those who have never read "Write, Cut" and to those for whom this book has become a reference book: everyone will find something useful and new in it.

The material in “Write, Cut” is presented in such a way that it is easy for readers to grasp and apply in practice: some will need simple editing techniques at the word level, while others will delve into the topic of relationships with readers. And everyone will find something useful in the book.

In “Write, Cut 2025” we move from simple to complex: first we talk about words, then about a sentence, paragraph and structure. At the end, we analyze the text as a whole: we show how to compose a text for common cases - about yourself, about the company, promo pages, presentations and the like.

Features
Illustrations by Ludwig Bystronovsky and Martin Khachatryan, unique layout, author's infographics, two-color printing.

Look at the text a little more broadly than just black letters on a white sheet. Text is a video script; text is a note on social networks; text is a game plot. A funny meme is also text, even if it does not contain a word. A photograph or a drawing is also a text, because any image contains a thought and a message. Technologies help us convey these thoughts in increasingly complex forms, but the message and the idea still remain. And the reader is always interested in them, no matter in what form we convey them.

For whom
For copywriters, designers, civil servants, managers. For those who want to be in demand in the world of texts, editing and communications, as well as for everyone who writes for work.

If you are interested in formulating and expressing thoughts, no neural networks will replace you. Maybe in a couple of years you will start creating text with voice commands: “Add a personal example here”, “And here we need a counter-example”, “No, more aggressively”, “And here take the reader’s side”. Even if a neural network helps you formulate thoughts, you will still be the source of these thoughts.
