The book “Unknown Peripheries of Kyiv. New Pechersk” tells about the formation of the urban environment of one of the central Kyiv districts, which was not built up for a long time due to the presence of a fortress. The work on the book used historical maps and satellite images, as well as rare photographs from private archives, many of which are being published for the first time. Special attention was paid to the process of forming modern development, and residential district projects and master plans were analyzed. Most of the typical projects of residential buildings and schools were identified in mass development. The book will be useful to architects and historians, Kyiv scholars and Kyivophiles, as well as residents of the capital and everyone who is interested in the topic.

The series “Unknown Peripheries of Kyiv” tells about the history of the development of the former Kyiv suburbs, which have long been perceived as organic parts of the city. New highways and workers' houses, ensembles of settlements and the first Kyiv massifs, schools and palaces of culture, lost buildings and unrealized plans. All this concerned not only the central part of the city, but also the lesser-known urban peripheries. The aim of the study is not only to systematize historical facts, but also to analyze the development of localities in the context of city-wide and global trends that influenced the development and expansion of urban peripheries.
