"Time of Politics" by the renowned poet and essayist, author of numerous poetic and prose books, is a collection of his selected essays published on the online platform InLiberty.ru.

Lev Rubinstein describes his media prose as an "experiment in periodic elegant literature." The criterion the author used in compiling this collection was whether the text could gain a new life in a new and responsible context, the context of a book. Evaluating it as a whole is up to the reader.

As in his very first book of journalistic essays, "Cases from Language," published by Ivan Limbach Publishing House, in this new collection, Lev Rubinstein pays close attention to words that create or distort reality.

"In the Soviet years, politics, or rather what was called by that name, was imposed on citizens mandatorily. It took well-compacted forms of regular political information sessions, political classes, open party meetings, as well as endless visual propaganda. Politics in the form of posters and colorful slogans, proclaiming that the people and the party are united, with varying degrees of success, covered up holes in fences and clumsily masked the dreary shabbiness of social life.

And we, of course, kept as far away from this 'politics' as possible, emigrating into art, friendship, and love... Nowadays, a new generation of politicized young people has distinctly emerged, motivated by their views on justice and dignity, which are decidedly different from those of the state. And if today we can speak of any hope, it is mainly associated with them."
