Marianna Kiyanovska's new poetry book is not just reflections on the events of the current stage of Russia's war against Ukraine, but a holistic lyric-epic canvas, deeply rooted in Ukrainian and world culture, from Virgil and Shevchenko to the songs of The Beatles and The Dead Rooster. The publication is built as a continuation of her previous collection Babyn Yar. In Voices, because war is always war, genocide is always genocide, the fight against the enemy and the belief in victory is always the fight against the enemy and the belief in victory, even if all you have is the sky above your head, the earth under your feet, you yourself, your mind and your human heart.
The book was written during his stay at the Berlin Science College (Wissenschaft skolleg zu Berlin) on a scholarship from the Prussian Maritime Trade Foundation (Stift ung Preussische Seehandlung) and on a scholarship from the Marga and Kurt Möllgaard Foundation (Marga und Kurt Möllgaard-Stift ung).
