Logos is one of the oldest independent humanities journals to emerge in the post-Soviet period. It continues the Westernizing tradition, developing the intellectual lineage of Russian culture that links it, in particular, to the pre-revolutionary Logos, an international yearbook on the philosophy of culture published in the early 20th century.

Over the course of its existence, Logos has evolved from a journal with a professional philosophical focus, serving a specific educational function, to a publication that also covers a wide range of social issues and strives to present the most interesting and notable intellectual innovations of contemporary Russia, as well as the main trends in global socio-political thought.
