Yuri Smirnov is a writer, poet, screenwriter, and laureate of the Grigoriev Poetry Prize. He resides in Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine, and writes poetry in Russian.

The first poem in the book "Year of the Cheetah" was written on February 26, 2022, and the last one on June 11, 2023. On one hand, it serves as a poetic war diary.
