Atlas of Industrial Heritage of Greater Yekaterinburg
Атлас индустриального наследия Большого Екатеринбурга
This atlas provides the first systematic and comprehensive presentation of the industrial heritage of Yekaterinburg and its historically interconnected neighboring territories and settlements—Beryozovsky, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sredneuralsk, Aramil, Degtyarsk, Sysert, Pervouralsk, Revda, Polevskoy, and Bilimbay—from its inception to the present day. Industrial heritage is examined in the context of national and regional identity, the relevance of its value, and research trends in global and Russian historiography. The publication includes appendices: a brief glossary of terms and concepts related to industrial heritage; a selected bibliography on global, Russian, and regional industrial heritage; and indexes of individuals, geographic features, enterprises, and organizations. The atlas is intended for residents and visitors of Greater Yekaterinburg, representatives of regional and municipal authorities, and researchers. It can be useful in the educational process, tourism activities, and is a tribute to respect and gratitude to many generations of our predecessors who created industry as the basis for the development of the industrial era and studied it.
