In Andrey Cherkasov's new book, the very method of writing is reinvented—each of the presented compositions, poems, and so on is the product of a unique combinatorial technique. The author's work resembles a lens—absorbing the chaos of inhuman speech, it releases rays that illuminate in the reader experiences repressed by their own cognitive structures. The machines of "Additional Fields" appeal to repressed fragments of consciousness, unorganized into functional patterns, to mental gaps that ignite within the mind at borderline moments—in dreams, in the gray zone of emotions, in moments of reflexive stupor and the failure of the critical instrument. Andrey Cherkasov is a poet and artist. Born in 1987 in Chelyabinsk, he has lived in Moscow since 2007. He is the author of six books of poetry and seven solo exhibitions. He is a graduate of the Gnessin Literary Institute. A. M. Gorky (2012), Open School "Manege/MediaArtLab" (2015). Founder of the publishing project "Vsegonichnogo." Finalist of the "LiteratuRRentgen" Prize (2008, 2009, 2011), laureate of the Forest Prize of the landscape poetry festival "Pushkin Laboratories" (2016), was shortlisted for the Russian Gulliver Prize (2014), the Andrei Bely Prize (2015, 2019), and the Metajournal Prize (2021).
