Enjoyment of the text
Удовольствие от текста
"The Pleasure of the Text" (1973) is an essay by French philosopher, literary scholar, and semiotician Roland Barthes, in which he examines in detail the relationship between text, reader, and the pleasure of reading. Developing ideas from Lacanian psychoanalysis, the author contrasts two types of pleasure from text—through the concepts of plaisir ("pleasure") and jouissance ("enjoyment")—and divides texts into "readable" and "written." According to Barthes, the meaning of a text is not fixed, and when reading, each reader brings their own experience and interpretation, allowing for a plurality of meanings. This work challenges views on authorship and places particular emphasis on the reader's subjectivity, emphasizing their role in creating the meaning of a text.
