The main author of the handbook is Arkady Emmanuilovich Milchin (1924–2014), a well-known bibliologist, candidate of philological sciences, who worked for many years as the editor-in-chief of the Kniga publishing house and has mastered a number of publishing professions. He is well known to the widest circles of publishing workers and authors for his reference and methodological manuals. Several generations of editors, proofreaders, and workers in other publishing professions have mastered the intricacies of their craft using his books and articles.
