Train to Poznan

Цягнік да Познаня

Alexei Pravolotsky was born in Minsk. He worked as a teacher at the Minsk State Linguistic University. He lived in Odessa for some time, then moved to Warsaw. His debut book, “Life in Twelve Stories,” was published in 2024.

The author’s second book, “Train to Poznan,” is fifty stories about life without a Catholic passport and an attempt to find the outlines of a new country. It is a series of portraits of real people, mostly Poles, who were picked up in various Polish cities and passed through the emigrant experience, nostalgia, and echoes of Belarusian trauma. Some characters appear only once, some appear in different stories.

“Train to Poznan” is the winner of the 2024 Shufladka manuscript competition in the “Non-fiction” category.
