Lit candles
Запаленыя свечкі
The memoirs of Bella Chagall (nee Rosenfeld) consist of two parts - "Lighted Candles" (1945) and "First Meeting" (1947). Both were written in Yiddish and were published only after the author's death. The book emotionally and imaginatively tells about Bella's childhood, her acquaintance with Marc Chagall, and opens the reader to the life of Vitebsk in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a city with a rich Jewish culture.
Published in Belarusian for the first time.
