The book "Only Cacti Survive War" contains short notes written by the author in Bucha and Kyiv, beginning in February 2022.

"...The first rupture of war. You haven't yet understood, haven't grasped what war is. You still think of it as a local event, frozen in history, in your own memory, as some vivid episode, recalled later as a tragicomic curiosity. You don't yet know that at that very moment, your world shattered into thousands of shapeless, ugly fragments. A person's world ceases to be a coherent, personal history and crumbles into episodes—sometimes incoherent, random—in which former friends and acquaintances are often lost, but new shadows of a new reality emerge.
