The initiator of Velimir Khlebnikov's collected works was the renowned literary scholar and cultural theorist Rudolf Valentinovich Duganov (1940-1998), who developed the overall plan and the scholarly and textual concept for the publication.
In 1992, the first volume was typeset for Khudozhestvennaia Literatura Publishing House; due to circumstances beyond the compilers' control, the project was not realized at that time.
The six-volume set (in seven books) was published by the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences between 2000 and 2007. This collected works was republished by Dmitry Sechin Publishing House between 2013 and 2015. Current discussions of these editions make it possible for the third edition to correct semantic and technical errors in the original typesetting, as well as to make a number of specific corrections to the verse graphics and composition of Khlebnikov's texts. The facts and wording of some notes have been clarified. The two parts of the sixth volume are published together.
