This is precisely the predicament of the slumbering protagonist in this work of "cranial cinema," who, through his dreams, experiences the full spectrum of states accessible to anyone living in the here and now.

Among the figures inhabiting his dreams are holographic Nibelungs, subway passengers kneaded together like dough, a resurrected Khlebnikov, a neural assistant that predicts the future, "Bigammi" teddy bears, rebooted humans, an alien-like drone, and a singing wound.
