One of the most striking and original artists of the 20th century, the visionary and reclusive Bernard Réquichot (1929-1961) managed to create and test a number of innovative painting techniques during his short life, for which critics had to invent special terms: reliquaries, paper selections, graphic traces, etc. In his literary endeavors, he no less insightfully anticipated emerging trends and movements—such as asemic writing, sonorous poetry, and the principles of repetitive music.
