At the same time, the interconnection of the histories of all the states in the region is noticeable. A detailed account of the dramatic events of the 20th century - the division of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, the struggle of the Arab peoples against colonialism, the Palestinian catastrophe and the Arab-Israeli conflict, the "Arab Spring" and its consequences. The fate of the Arab peoples is not simple. Over the centuries, their history has been determined by two vectors: resistance to foreign domination and the desire to reform their own states. The revolutionary events of the "Arab Spring" became just another chapter in the history of centuries-long struggle, and this is precisely what Eugene Rogan's large-scale work is about.
