Tatiana Nyadbay is a writer, translator, human rights activist, and manager of cultural projects. She was born in Polotsk. She studied in Minsk. After her arrest in 2006, she entered graduate school in Lublin, where she defended her dissertation on the history of Belarusian literature. In 2015, she returned to Belarus. 3 From 2017 to 2019, and then from 2021, she was the chairwoman of Belarusian PEN. In July 2021, she had to leave Belarus and move the Belarusian PEN office from Minsk to Warsaw. She translated Eva Thompson's book "The Henchmen of the Empire. Russian Literature and Colonialism" (2009) into Belarusian. Author of the poetry book "Sirens Sing Jazz" (2014), for which she received the Maksim Bahdanovich Debut Prize (2015) and the Golden Letter Prize (2019).
