Barbaro-genius decivilizer
Варварогений децивилизатор
This novel—published here in Russian for the first time—was written in France and released in Paris in 1938 by the Serbian writer, publisher of the avant-garde journal *Zenit* (1921–1926), and founder of the Zenitist movement. Micić’s central idea—an uprising of barbarians from the East against hypocritical European civilization—appears throughout his numerous articles, manifestos, and poems from the 1920s. In the novel, however, this theme emerges as a legend recounting the life and suffering of a solitary Balkan "Barbaro-genius," a narrative largely based on the events of Micić’s own life. The appendices include the writer’s autobiography, his articles and manifestos, and a conversation between the poet and Zenitist artist B.V. Polyansky and F.T. Marinetti.
