Alice Brauner and Heike Gronemeyer provide a rich and atmospheric account of the meeting, life, and breakup of one of the most famous couples in 20th-century art – Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter. This union, productive artistically, was destructive personally. Gabriele had to go from being a lovesick student through a codependent relationship to liberation from the shadow of her mentor and lover.
