The plot of the work is based on the stories of a prisoner whom Nawal Saadawi, as a psychiatrist, met in Al-Qanatir prison. A woman sentenced to death for murder, agreed to tell the story of her life. The book is a detailed confession of Firdous, who rose up in the only way possible for herself against a cruel patriarchal society. Hidden and overt violence, indifference and devaluation of sincere feelings on the part of men, despair and disappointment ultimately turned a girl, a girl, a woman into a murderer. She awaits her own death as the final liberation from the world's endless injustice and therefore will not ask for mercy for her rebellion.
