Pyotr Nikolaevich Mamonov is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Russian culture. An artist, musician, director, and radio host, he created wonderful images in film and theater. He starred in over 20 films and directed nearly 15 musical performances, in which he played leading roles. Nearly 300 of his original "Golden Regiment" programs were broadcast on the Echo of Moscow radio station. The rock band Zvuki Mu has released over 20 discs. But poetry was the most important thing in his life. "I'm not so much a musician as a poet, by nature, by how I feel. I've been writing poetry for a long time, and in general, I have a poetic approach to reality," he says of himself. He treated poetry with reverence and seriousness, but he refused to allow it to be published. Only when he turned 70 did he give all his manuscripts to his wife and say, "Here you go, publish them." This book is the first publication of Pyotr Mamonov's poems.
