Down to the last screw 2.0. A guide to dismantling modernity

До последнего винтика 2.0. Пособие по демонтажу современности

The book includes the works of Todd McLellan, a photographer who disassembles industrial design objects, creates harmonious compositions from the parts and takes pictures, demonstrating to the viewer the complex internal structure of everyday objects and calling for reflection on technical progress and consumption.

This is the second edition, for which the author carefully dismantled and photographed more than fifty objects - both modern and obsolete.

Mesmerizing photographs of all kinds of disassembled equipment - from a mechanical pencil to a light aircraft - are accompanied by essays by the author himself, as well as his like-minded people: the founder of a community for repairing equipment, a restorer of antique ceramics, an organizer of children's engineering workshops and an inventor. All of them - each from their own position - discuss the contradictory relationship of man with the world of things - in the past, present and future.

Todd McLellan is a Toronto-based photographer who specializes in commercial, automotive and conceptual photography. In 2009, he began the project "To the Last Screw", which combines photography with nolling - the creation of compositions from objects methodically laid out on a plane. His works are imbued with the aesthetics of order and at the same time are meaningful: they give an idea of the complexity of ordinary objects of modern life and the amount of effort spent on their development and production. The project brought the author fame among designers, photographers, artists, manufacturers and lovers of technology, as well as its collectors. In 2013, the project turned into a book, and later, together with an expanded re-release, into a successful exhibition.
