Kinderland

Киндерланд

East Berlin, summer 1989, the last months before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Seventh-grader Mirko Watzke is in trouble: he, a model student and a quiet one, has crossed the path of the thugs of the senior students from the Free German Youth. The only one who can help Mirko is a mysterious new student from a parallel class. "Kinderland" is a story about friendship, courage and trust, about a childhood spent at pioneer meetings and on secret trips to church, about fathers who "disappeared" in the West and about overheard conversations of adults about escaping to the FRG, about a "deadly" serve and a table tennis tournament on the eve of a great historical event. In 2014, the book received Germany's main comic book award - "Max and Moritz".
