The first posthumous collection of works by M. L. Gasparov (in six volumes) aims to fully convey the multifaceted nature of his scholarly interests and present the main directions of his activities.

The materials gathered in the sixth — final — volume introduce us to the scholar's thoughts on science and the people involved in it, on the profession and research methods, on enlightenment and education, on the place of philology and the humanities in our daily lives. The volume opens with the book "Notes and Excerpts," compiled by Gasparov from fragments of his notebooks, supplemented by memoirs, letters, responses to questionnaires, and interviews.
