Articles and Letters from 1934–1943
Статьи и письма 1934–1943 годов
The collection of selected essays and letters by Simone Weil continues the series of publications of the French thinker's legacy, which began with her "Notebooks" in four volumes (published by Ivan Limbakh Publishing House, 2015–2022).
The book covers the most significant and fruitful period of Weil's work, during which her original worldview takes shape, blending philosophical, religious-mystical, ethical, political, and aesthetic ideas into an indivisible whole.
From the second half of the 1930s until her untimely death, Weil became increasingly inspired by the idea of a comprehensive spiritual revolution, which she called the "true embodiment of Christianity." This involves a sort of "reboot" of Christian civilization. Without this, Simone does not agree to consider the Church's spiritual mission fulfilled and sees no possibility for Europe to rid itself of the deadly disease of the century — totalitarianism.
