Testament: Conversations with Dominique de Roux
Завещание: беседы с Домиником де Ру
Taking advantage of his fame (International Publishers' Prize, 1967) and the unique opportunity provided by an interview with a French journalist, the distinguished Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz (1904–1969) sought to dispel the misunderstandings that had accumulated around his work. Banned in his own country and selectively translated into ten languages, Gombrowicz felt the need to consistently connect his work with his life.
Serving as both an autobiography and a guide to his works, the interview follows the chronology of the writer's creative journey. In this book, Gombrowicz retains all his sharpness, humor, and foresight.
The book is an important supplement to Gombrowicz's "Diary" (an essential read for the formation of the inner self), published by us in 2012 and reissued in 2021.
