The book examines the problem of power and consistently establishes a universal procedure underlying it and allowing it to be noticed in a variety of contexts. The theoretical framework here is the problem of the body, which has historically accompanied all discourses on power, comprehending it from a critical perspective.

This interdisciplinary study is conducted on extensive historical, aesthetic and theoretical material, including sources previously unknown in the Russian-speaking space, or never considered from the proposed positions.
Events of socio-political history and its artistic reflection in cinema, prose and poetry, medieval theology and protest movements, religious sectarianism and gender theory, counterculture and decolonial perspective, the existential status of animals and the trajectory of scientific and technological progress - all this makes up the horizon in which the philosophical concept of the book "Power and the Body" is built.

The book is based on Maria Rakhmaninova’s doctoral dissertation “From the Epistemology of Power to the Ontology of the Body: A Social and Philosophical Analysis.”
