What is modern post-communist Hungary like, one of the Central European states that was part of the so-called socialist bloc and burdened with the sad legacy of totalitarianism? What socio-political metamorphoses did its system have to endure, how can the regime that formed in the country be characterized and how does it differ from the regimes in neighboring countries oriented towards the model of Western liberal democracy - this is the subject of a study by Hungarian sociologist Balint Magyar.
