Vera Burlak is a Belarusian writer and translator. Born in 1977 in Kiev. Graduate of the Faculty of Philology of the Belarusian State University. Author of the poetry books "For a Healthy Lifestyle" (2003), "Kill Socrates in Yourself" (together with V. Zhybul, 2008), "Children and Ghosts" (2012), "Hand to the Leg" (2013, translated into Polish by A. Pomorski, K. Kwiatkowska), prose books "Works of the Sleepy Genre" (2011), children's poetry books "Fantasy Girls" (2018). Translates fiction from English, Ukrainian and Russian (L. Carroll "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Saw There", 2017, A. Conan Doyle "The Hound of the Baskervilles", 2023, etc.). Participant of artistic and literary projects: "Connection-Break" (Ukraine - Belarus, 2004), "Order of Words" (Minsk, 2006, 2007), "Belarusian Literary Tour to Lapland" (Sweden, 2011), "International Women's Slam" within the framework of the festival "Poems on Asphalt" named after Mikhas Stralydov (Minsk, 2012), "Third Czesław Miłosz Literary Festival" (Krakow, 2013), "Literary Journey to the Arctic" (Sweden - Norway, 2013), the project "Poetry Affairs" within the framework of the festival "Eclat" (Stuttgart, 2023, 2024), etc. Winner of the Carlos Sherman Award for Best Fiction (2017), and the Tsetka Award for Best Children's Book (2018).
