Overcoming Art
Преодоление искусства
El Lissitzky (1890–1941) was an artist, architect, and designer, as well as a pioneer of Russian graphic design. This volume collects his theoretical writings on Suprematism, the culture of living, book design methods, and the arrangement of exhibition spaces. Lissitzky mastered various art forms—painting, typography, architecture, and photomontage—achieving significant success and introducing radical changes in each, while developing new approaches and techniques that shaped 20th-century art. Through his designs for horizontal skyscrapers, *Prouns*, and communal housing units, Lissitzky sought to transcend the artistic traditions of his time and establish a new culture, the principles of which he articulated in his manifestos.
