"Day by Day" is a self-fiction about living with chronic pain. Anna Fishman's self-proclaimed heroine faces a symptom for which there is no cause and, more importantly, no effective treatment. She suffers from a constant headache that prevents her from being herself. Losing her previous supports, the heroine, Anya, experiences a disruption in an important part of her identity—her own body. Using trauma writing techniques, the writer attempts to convey and put into words what is almost impossible to express.
