Noon: The Case of the August 25, 1968 Demonstration on Red Square
Полдень. Дело о демонстрации 25 августа 1968 года на Красной площади
At noon on August 25, 1968, eight individuals stepped onto Red Square to protest the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. The book by one of the participants of this legendary demonstration, poet and translator Natalya Gorbanevskaya, is dedicated to the history and consequences of what may be the most famous anti-Soviet protest.
Created in 1969, distributed through samizdat, and translated into several languages, this documentary chronicle is being published in Russia for the first time. The book is supplemented with a new foreword and commentary by the author, revealing previously unknown details about the struggle between civil society and totalitarian power in the USSR.
