Anatoly Anatolyevich Strigalev (1924–2015) was a distinguished art historian, a leading researcher of the Russian avant-garde, the author of numerous monographs, and an organizer of international exhibitions. The field of art history owes a great deal to Strigalev for his many discoveries, theories, datings, and findings; yet, among his wide-ranging interests, Vladimir Evgrafovich Tatlin (1885–1953)—a leader of the artistic avant-garde and the founder of Constructivism—held a special place.
