Women in Combat
Женщины в бою
In her book, Anna Larsdotter presents a series of vivid portraits of women who took part in wars between the 17th and 20th centuries—among them Hannah Snell, a soldier in the British Army; Harriet Tubman, an icon in the fight against slavery; Florence Nightingale, a nurse and pioneering organizer of military medicine; Maria Bochkareva, founder of a women’s shock battalion; and Vietnam War veteran Linda Van Devanter, among others.
Drawing on a broad historical context, Anna Larsdotter explores women’s pursuit of freedom, their struggle against deep-seated societal prejudices, and the changes brought about as a result of these efforts.
Anna Larsdotter is a journalist and author who previously served as editor-in-chief of the magazine *Militär Historia*.
