The second volume of the Collected Works of Heiner Müller. Müller, the GDR's most prominent "export" playwright, left behind a voluminous legacy, including dozens of plays, hundreds of poems, prose texts, translations, and feuilletons. His life, both personal and literary, reflects the tragic era of divided Germany; Müller's death occurred during the controversial years of unification. Libra Publishing House is honored to introduce Russian readers to a crucial aspect of Müller's body of work—a selection of plays, poems, and prose dedicated to antiquity and its influence on history, philosophy, and literature. Some texts are already familiar to Russian readers and theatergoers. Many are being published in Russian for the first time. This publication was supported by the Goethe Institute in Moscow.
