The collection of stories by internationally acclaimed Kharkiv writer Andrey Krasnyashykh was written under the Russian bombs falling on Kharkiv and later in neighboring Poltava, where there are more displaced people than local residents. The book captures the seen, heard, and experienced — a narrative of everyday life during wartime.
One of the protagonists is the writer's ten-year-old daughter, whose school essay, "How My Life Changed with the Onset of War," encapsulates the book's central theme. The narrator describes how the war changed everything and everyone: himself, his daughter who quickly matured from a child into a teenager, habits, emotions, and the way people relate to each other, becoming more caring and protective.
