Asger Jorn (1914–1973)—a Danish painter, sculptor, writer, and political activist, a cosmopolitan and a born rebel—was an organizer of the avant-garde art group CoBrA; together with his friend Guy Debord, he co-founded the Situationist International and also established the Scandinavian Institute of Comparative Vandalism. His pseudo-treatise, *The Natural History of Paradise*, offers a parodic deconstruction not only of the dogmas found in the Book of Genesis but also of the various biological, social, and political paradigms that either derive from—or stand in opposition to—that text.
